Modular furniture are the most popular trend in furniture currently and businesses are opting for these furniture for their immense flexibility, pocket friendliness and beautiful designs. So today we’ll be looking at 4 of the popular workstations that will help you to decide which one suits your need.

1. Pre-laminated Particle Board Workstations

post

As the name suggests, these are completely made up of particle boards or preferably MDF. The boards being prelaminated, come with sheets of lamination on them preinstalled, hence are faster to assemble than plywood. Thickness of the desktops are usually 25mm (1”) with 2mm of edge bands provided on all sides. The vertical sides and front dividers are 17 or 18mm (3/4”) with 0.8mm edge bands. They are provided around the edges to protect the particle board from swelling due to moisture. These are the cheapest of all the workstations and are used where there is a constraint of budget. As these form the barebones of the workstation, some of the useful accessories to make the area efficient are:

  1. Softboards
  2. Drawer Pedestals
  3. Writing Boards
  4. Keyboard trays

2. 60mm Aluminium Profile Workstations

post

You must have seen these workstations in plenty of offices as they are the most reliable type of workstations. These make them a perfect blend of both functionality and form. It features a robust front partition made of aluminum profiles and particle board frame inside it. The tiled design extends the functionality by adding potential features built in the frame; such as softboards and writing boards. Or you can just opt for any one of the mentioned tiles depending on the type of work.

The front partition is made of 60mm thick aluminum extruded profiles which are powder coated to potentially any colour. The grooves in the profiles allow for installation of simple but helpful trays to store stationary and help de-clutter desk space. For enhancing the look of these workstations, different combination of colours for aluminum sections, softboards and the particle board can be used. As with the other workstations, these tops too come with a thickness of 25mm with 2mm edge band, while the sides are of 18mm thickness and 0.8mm edge band. There are various ways in which the layout of the workstations can be planned. They come with a lot of options like a standard cluster layout, triangular 3 seating layout, pentagon with 5 seating, or a simple cubicle layout

3. 32mm Aluminium Profile Desking System

post

These are desking systems which have a unique and modern feel to it and are quite trendy these days. The front ‘screen’ is made of 32mm (1 1/4”) thick and rest on the desktop instead of continuing to the floor. The legs are made of rectangular or square MS tubes of dimensions ranging from 1” to 2” depending upon the strength required. Aesthetically 2” square tubes look appealing but add to the cost of the workstation so usually 2”x1” rectangular tubes are used to keep it economical or a combination of both are used.

There are several designs for legs such as Inverted C shaped, O shaped, inclined legs which are exclusive and have a great impact on the viewer.A modular screw jointed frame of MS tubes form the structure of the whole workstations to make the base durable and then the tops and screen are installed. One of the benefit of these desktops are that they make the room feel airy since they use lesser materials compared to other modular workstations.

4. Magnetic Glass Screen Desking

post

This one is almost similar to the 32mm desking system with the exception that the screen used here is of glass. To make the screen functional, a sheet of metal is sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass. Small magnet buttons are used to hang papers and notes on the screen. These glasses come in vibrant colours like red, yellow, green and blue which give a chic and ultra-modern look to your workspace.

A more affordable version of this desking is possible by replacing magnetic screens by particle boards. Since magnetic glass is realtively expensive, replacing it with Particleboard or MDF is sometimes preferred. It reduces the cost while keeping the same aesthetics of the glass screen. The screens can be made by various other materials to adapt with the working requirements. Some of the examples are; using a writing board screen or a softboard screen rather than glass screen.

A lot has changed in the world of furniture and modular furniture has made sure that they’re there to stay. These are the 4 amazing and popular workstations that customers are looking for these days. So we hope that this article has given you a clear idea what buying a modular furniture is like. We hope that this has helped you in deciding your requirements for your new house or your office.
